Hotaru

Word Count → 434 :: Dated: February 2nd.

Anger, frustration, and sadness; a lethal combination for anyone who dared to get too close. Hotaru was angry, which wasn't really all that unusual, but angry non-the-less. Just the previous day Hotaru had spent several relaxing hours hard at work while she built a bench for her pack mates in an attempt to be more social. However, as those hours had dragged by, it gave Hotaru some unwelcome thinking time. What she thought about was not pretty. The blind women was no fool, she knew Light was cheating on her. She also knew that it was absurd to date a male that didn't love females and by extension, couldn't love her. Yet, in a foolish bout of youth, she had fallen in love with the hunter and was coming to regret it. She was hurt, mad, and upset. Hurt by Light's actions, mad at herself for being so stupid, and upset at the whole debacle.

The grey wolf stood outside of the festival, her very form seething with anger. She had been leaning against a tree and simply stared out into the world with unseeing eyes. Hotaru wanted to run, to hunt; but she didn't know the lands and it would be too dangerous for her to try and transverse them at any useful speed. In a fit of rage Hotaru swiftly turned around and punched the tree behind. It reciprocated her punch by bruising her knuckles.

High up in the tree Hotaru had been leaning against, rested a red tailed hawk. Fawkes had decided to perch on the top branches where it was much safer. Hotaru would never hurt him, he knew that, but she scared him when she got angry and was prone to punching inanimate objects nearby. He didn't know what was wrong and it only caused the bird to worry. From the safety of his perch, Fawkes stared down at Hotaru and uttered soothing words in low speech to her. Fawkes cried out though when the tree shook beneath him as Hotaru punched it's base. He flapped his large wings a bit for balance before taking off to find refuge in a more stable tree. He knew better than to stick around while Hotaru was angry.

The blind wolf's ears twitched as she listened to Fawkes fly off. He didn't go very far, but she still felt bad about upsetting her dearest friend. Hotaru cradled her bruised paw in one hand as she turned around and leaned against the tree. She tilted her head back and let it rest against the cool bark, her empty eyes staring at the sky.
