2nd February . 10.30am . Broken Arrow Ranch & Borders .

His head spun when he thought about all that he had learnt and gained from the winter festival so far. He'd gained another horse, whom he hoped he would be able to give to Temeraire when his son was old enough to ride a horse. He'd gained many pouches of medicinal herbs that would be of great benefit to him down the line, as well as a Witchhazel plant that he intended to place in the ground shorlty after he arrived at home. He'd learnt at least a little to dance and he thought he might have made a friend in his dance partner, Xyza from Anathema. He'd somehow managed to find an actual relative in the form of Lilin and the two of them had gone Ice Fishing together. It had given Saul the idea to start a family tree, to keep track of whom was related to who and where they all came from. He'd learnt some Archery and he'd met up with his old friend Dixie as well, which was an added bonus for that part. And he'd managed to drag Eclipse to the arts and crafts tent where they'd spent a while talking and creating.

Of course, there was no way he could have stayed away from Ichika for the duration of the festival. He had duties to attend to, he had to make sure Maia and Gypsy were alright after Dixie's reminder that he was safeguarding at least a little bit of what belonged to her. The biggest pull came from his son and the fact that he hadn't seen him in about ten days. It was a strong pull that had allowed him to gather up what he'd already gained and strap it to Hermes late in the evening. It would have been safer to come back in the morning, but Saul knew the terrain well and he knew that Hermes trusted him to bring them through. The chocolate and flaxen stallion who appeared to be roughly the same age as his own horse had been more than happy to comply as Saul tied his lead rope to the back of Hermes' saddle and the small party continued on. There was still a few things Saul wanted from the festival, but he knew he would be coming back soon enough for the end of the festivities.

They'd crested the Halycon Mountains, as they'd done many times, as the sun rose behind them. Ichika was bathed in light as they'd begun their descent and Saul was glad that he'd left in the night. He knew X'yrin had return a day or two before him and he was aware that Saluce was here as well. He'd been making his adopted father a gift for their upcoming wedding and he wanted to give it to him whilst he was in Ichika. It wasn't anything heavy, nor was it anything particularly useful. But it was well crafted and beautiful in his opinion. He hadn't been sure when he'd seen similar designs on a stall in the festival, but he'd attempted one himself and he'd been pleased with his work.

He allowed thoughts of his adopted father to wash over him as he made his way down towards the ranch. With the amount of horses Ichika had accumilated, they would soon need to expand or at the very least build more paddocks for those that were stabled. Saul had been thinking for a while that he should give Arete and Finn to Gideon's adopted children- it would give them something to focus on and perhaps it would bring them a little happiness. He was still torn though and pushed the thought aside. Saul dismounted when the paddocks were in sight and walked down the small slope towards the ranch. He would get Hermes and the new stallion settled and then he would go and find his adopted father.
