Kiara Amarok

Word Count → 434 :: Out of Character text

Kiara was dense when it came to love, and really most matters in general. Her world was simple as was her background. She would wake up, stretch, exercise, hunt, rest, and play. Some days she would spend with the pack puppies and watch after them as they slowly grew. Others she would enjoy lounging in the snow or touching up her den. It was a simple life led by a dense wolf. Kiara never picked up Noah's subtle hints and even if she had, the snow wolf had no way to interpret them. Love to her was an emotion to be given freely to the pack members. In her world, Noah held the greatest amount of affection she could give. The complex relationships of the luperci and the special bonds they held with their mates were not shared by the white wolf. A mate was one to spend her life with, one to have puppies with, but one who held no special place in comparison with the rest of her family. When Noah's head jolted back as he said brother, Kiara didn't know what to think.

Noah wanted something from Kiara she simply couldn't give. Not to mention his pain and hatred toward Ichika were terrible. Kiara was shocked to hear about the silver males banishment and how it had been caused by Ichika. What could she say? What could she do? He was her brother, yet he was in so much pain because of her. Kiara whimpered as he stepped away from her, his words like a slap to her face. She didn't know what to do, or how to explain herself. The white wolf's voice squeaked out of her throat; barely audible and weak, "Noah...I...I didn't know." Her excuse sounded weak, even to her own ears.

Kiara's snowy body hunched over, her nose pointed strait to the ground and her ears were pinned against her head. Why did this happen? What happened to her peaceful world? As she stared at the snow her mind drifted back to her original family. The one she had left behind to learn more about the world and all that it contained. At that moment in time, all she wanted to do was be back in her valley where the complicated life of the luperci was no where to be found. Where family was important, the game was big, and the only thing that mattered was the circle of life and how long one could play their role. No more houses. No more trinkets. no more fires or strange rules. Just the pack and the arctic tundra.
