Her heart began to race with the anticipation of the hunt. Adrenaline and endorphins ravaged through her system, preparing her for the exertion of strength and energy sure to come to down this worthwhile prey. And she grew all the more excited feeling the purposeful caress of her playmate against her neck as he reciprocated the desire to hunt as well.

Oh what a day this turned out to be! How glad she was to have raised her voice in song of her elations for it brought unto her the bud of a sure to blossom relationship now nourished by the bond of a hunt now forging. She would have whined with glee were they not within earshot of the great elk hidden within the trees. Instead, she lowered both head and tail bringing them aligned with her frame as she slipped through the trees as effortlessly as an autumn leaf carried effortlessly by the winds. She twisted and turned on dexterous paws, her steps falling soundlessly on the earthen hues of the ground lightly dusted with snow.

As the scent of the elk grew stronger, her maw began to pool as the delectable aroma entranced her nostrils and coaxed her appetite into waking. It threatened to growl at any moment, its empty state not realized until its succulent dark hide was within her range of sight. The female forced herself lower to the ground, her tail swaying with anticipation as she held out from springing the attack until there was confirmation of the Dawn Alpha’s readiness. They hadn’t made a plan of attack which was how the she-wolf liked to hunt. No interference with civilized thoughts. Just the instinctual actions the body knew it was capable of and the reactions toward what they were given by the others present. And she was content to wait and see which of them had the urge to bring this hunt to life and which would take the killing blow and taste the first blood.
