The black wolf remained perfectly still, his face a blank veil. Amy knew that he was strong simply by glancing at his body. He was large, monstrously so, with his body almost bulging with strength. There was more to it than that though. The way he held himself, prepared to move in an instant, told her he wasn't just a master of brute strength. He held speed as well, and a mind that calculated the battles laid before him. A slight nod met her greeting, acknowledging her publicly. All this talk, these polite actions, were for those around them, holding the pretense that they had just noticed each other, instead of the instant that they came near each other.
Her lips curled in slight distaste as he spoke so openly. Amy looked around, making sure that no one was listening. Her eyes met his again, a sharp warning to watch his words. You mistake me with someone else. I haven't killed. Talking about death aloud like this jeopardized the work of those who moved in secret. He should have been much more careful. Being told that he hadn't been hired to kill her was a relief though. Some assassins did announce themselves before starting their kill, liking the added challenge of dodging someone on the lookout for them. Amy was curious what had brought him here if it wasn't for a kill. Are you shopping? Or simply looking for work?
