OOC: xD silly Ciara. This post is in participation of the February thread call!

Ciara was on the hunt again. She had been trying to prove herself a worthwhile huntress for the past few days, even having commissioned Augustus for lessons. The Epsilon knew what he was doing, and in time Ciara grew more comfortable. She also knew, now, that she wouldn't be able to take on big game on her own. So she stuck to rodents: mice, lemming, rabits, only now they were all scurrying beneath the snow where she couldn't reach.

As she began a trek through the snow, flexing her paws to keep her weight evenly distributed and her body from falling through the icy crust, she thought back on the months she'd been alone. Often times, the mottled yearling had watched other animals hunt. Coyotes didn't differ so much from wolves, even though they didn't have near the grace of her species. Foxes, though, seemed to be easily the most clever. She remembered watching as the fox would put his ear to the ground, cocking his head from side to side as he listened to his prey. Then, in one great leap of faith, the fox would crash through the snow head first. She never understood how, but the smaller predator always seemed to come out of the snow with the prize in his mouth.

She decided that she was going to give it a try. Determined, Ciara tilted her head down and listened through the snow for the sounds of scratching beneath. It took her a half hour, and a few frustrated paces in all directions, before she finally detected what sounded like a family of mice beneath the snow. She crouched down in a position much like a play bow, tail wagging with triumph and ears erect, listening to what would surely be her dinner. Closing her eyes, counting backwards from ten, Ciara readied herself and then...SPRUNG! She crashed through the snow in all her glory, catching a squealing mouse in her jaws and crunching happily.

She didn't bother come out of the snow to eat, but sat in her ridiculous position and consumed her snack. It was only after licking the remains from her black lips that she put her paws in front of her to push out of the hole she'd created. Unfortunately, her paws went straight through the snow, and Ciara fell deeper into the hole she'd created. She yelped, wriggled, thrashed, and then slumped. Her skin turned a bright crimson as she blushed beneath her fur, ears pinning back and tail tucking between her legs in embarrassment. She may have caught the mouse, but now she was stuck in the snow with her rear end sticking straight up in the air, back paws kicking at the slippery crust.

Silently, she prayed that a pack mate would come and find her. She sure as hell wasn't going to cry for help. That'd make the situation even more humiliating than it already was.
