She had been resting quite soundly when the troubled baritone of his voice pulled her from sleep to heed his call. She did not question the tone, nor contest its validity and rose to greet it with a receptive howl of her own. Her mind drifted erratically from the waking world to dreamland, treading the threshold repeatedly until the cold beneath her paws truly seeped in and had her awake and at attention. Her careless strides began to even as she became more aware of her surroundings as well as the echo of the call still on the wind. Her pace quickened as she neared the borderline then halted all together at the aromatic stain of blood in the air. Her hackles raised uncomfortably as terror gripped her throat, silencing the call she would have invoked in reflex to stir the whole of Ichika into waking.

But she needn’t do that… not yet.

For with the scent of blood mingled that of her mate leading her from the lines marred with sin to where he stood with the injured female in his care. And the both of them were scented heavily in blood. “Saluce,” terror leaked through her usually calm voice as she circled urgently around the male and the young female. “What…why is there-“ She could hardly make out a coherent thought, her mind was running so rampant. Seasons of training and conditioning to find calm were dashed in an instant. “Saluce what happened? What is going- Who is this female? Why are you…” X’ryin had to force herself to sit before her trembling legs gave way beneath her. She did not know where to begin, what to ask… what warranted the most importance as a leader. But as a mate, she could think of only one thing to ask him. “Are you alright?”
