His hesitation was noted and assaulted by a cry from above, and he pinned his ears and hurried on.
As she appeared before him, the wolf folded his ears back. Before he could speak, the great eagle swooped down. With the fire burning nearby, her feathers gleamed brighter than he imagined a true eagle would. Her landing was accented by a flurry of massive wings, settling her on a perch close to the young man that was her ward. Sharp eyed, she looked to the Anasgayv unblinkingly. Certainly her presence would prove that there was a reason for the boy’s absence, and for his behavior.
Lowering himself slightly, the dark wolf averted his eyes from the woman above him. While she was yet smiling, he knew there was much to be said. “Anasgayv,” he greeted formally, the words sounding odd on his accented tongue. His hesitation grew into silence, and it was then the great eagle spoke. “My ward wishes to speak with you about his actions.”
