The tone the female addressed her with sent Amy's hackles standing. It was so false, sugary sweet. It almost felt like she was being humored, accused of behaving falsely. Amy resisted hitting the girl, remembering that she needed to behave, and it could backfire since she was pregnant. At least the girl seemed willing to play along, answering her question. Amy did need to find someone who knew about horses, whether or not she liked them.
Amy snarled at the implied insult. Amy knew plenty about caring for predators. Young creatures and herbivores were the ones she struggled with, and she always made sure to find those with knowledge to care for them. It was just bad luck that her trained slave had been sold, sticking her with someone completely ignorant. I own them. Their health is none of your business. She glared at her with all the fierceness she could manage, angry that she had been scolded for something Amy had no power over, and was trying to correct.
