Shadow stood as still as a stone and did not flinch nor move when the blade was tossed. He heard the words and cared for them not. Words meant nothing to him and they also had less value when coming at him and Amy in the form of a Taunt. He waited for Amy to make the move to leave and when she pulled on the reins to get the horses moving Shadow walked over to where the knife was and he looked and saw a tree with a knot in the wood shaped like a perfect circle no larger than a mouse. He quickly pulled the knife from the wagon tossed it in the air, caught it by the blade and then rocketed it dead center into the knot with a loud thud.

The knife had been thrown a good 10 feet from the one who threw it so as not to make her think he was trying to hit her but prove a point. He then turned as the back of the wagon was near him and he reached out grabbed a post and swung around, with that simple movement he was in the back of the wagon ready to go. As the wagon moved he looked to the female wolf who had thrown the knife and he did nothing but offer her a simple, respectful nod of the head. In little time they were lost from sight and if they were to try and retrieve the knife from the tree they would find that the blade was buried into the tree all the way up to the handle.

His throwing of the knife had meant two things. One was that he was the guardian of Amy and that he would die for her if he had to. The second was a simple gesture of skill and determination. The nod he had offered to the female was one of respect and of a promise that Shadow himself was bound by honor and had a code and oath that must be followed. Shadow hoped that if he were to meet the Male with the many weapons and the female that it would be a peaceful meeting.

Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!' Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
