The golden cub had been adamant about going to Cercatori d’Arte once the Court got wind of their new ship and the opening of its borders. He still remembered the nice young lady who’d painted the veve on him, and he was excited in general at the chance to visit a pack that wasn’t his own. Since the ocean incident, he’d been glad to stay inside his own territory for a while, but the chance to visit a new place safely was not something to be overlooked. And so he’d yelped and yapped and pleaded and promised, creating the most potent puppy faces known to wolfkind until he’d wheedled his way into going with an escort.
The journey to d’Arte was much longer than he had anticipated for his still-growing legs, and the wolfdog had been distracted by every sound and smell in the Ethereal Eclipse. Despite her own mischievous antics, Terra had managed to keep him on the right track, and they made it to the borders and were let inside without incident.
By now, Skoll had detached from his caregiver and was running excitedly through the territory all by himself. There was a d’Artisan at every corner, it seemed like, spread thin though with very watchful eyes. With the tightened security, the child was safe from danger, and his explosive curiosity led him absolutely everywhere.
Eventually, his wanderings took him along a worn forest path toward the scent of cool freshwater. The sight of the icy pool might have made him uneasy, but it looked quaint and calm next to the turbulent ocean, and the reek of brine and seaweed was absent. He was still very cautious, however, and walked toward the shore as if the oasis harbored a monster that would lunge out at him at any moment.
The song of birds who’d stayed throughout the winter filled the cool air, and the sun prince dropped onto his belly once he’d found a nice stick to chew on. The foreign odor of the pack lands flooded his nose, and his bright green eyes scanned the treetops and the placid pond with the warmth of contentment.
