Hadley still felt incredibly guilty over the fact that he had been eating food from the storage and not replacing it. His hunting skills might be rusty, but that didn't mean he had to give up trying altogether. He had been told it was expected for him to replace what he ate, so following those instructions Hadley had set out for the woods. After making sure the horses were settled, as Wayne had asked him to help out, Hadley set out further into territory he hadn't been in before. He found a likely place for prey to wander through (at least in his mind) and settled in for a wait.

The sun began to rise in the sky, and Hadley remained where he was, perfectly still. The weak winter sun stroked his back, sending Hadley into a partial lull. Just as he was beginning to forget the reason why he was out there a tiny deer entered the clearing. Alerted Hadley straightened up. There was the meal he was supposed to bring in. The gentleness of it's movements, the shy way it moved, it all made him hesitant to hurt it. It was much better for him to just watch it. Only the faintest stirrings in his stomach reminded him of what purpose it was supposed to be for.
