The noise of a throat being cleared had Hadley partly jumping up. Luckily he'd chosen a place that had fair cover, or the deer would have set off running. Wide eyed he looked over to see a humongous black wolf. Afraid that the killer he'd met a few days ago was back Hadley twisted his head, ready to howl and inform the pack that they had been invaded. Luckily his nose caught up before his voice did, letting him know that it wasn't the black beast he'd seen before. Calming down slightly he glanced over at the stranger, wondering who it was. He carried the scent of the pack very strongly, but even Hadley held that.
Nervously he crouched submissively, eyes kept on the ground. His ears flattened with his tail tucked up, though not so high it showed pure fear. Hadley was before a master, and tried to show the respect needed for such. His eyes flickered up, noticing the soft smile. There was no promise of violence behind it, letting the tension roll off his shoulders. The large hybrid glanced back at the tiny deer that was feeding, and realized that the wolf was probably waiting for him to bring the deer down. Carefully Hadley scanned it, trying to remember how such kills were done. Shifting around he positioned himself in a crouch. Pushing himself out Hadley reached to grab the deer. For a startled moment it seemed Hadley would succeed, but his calculation had been off, and the deer bounded off untouched. Afraid he'd be punished for letting the meal escape Hadley's tail tucked up again. He didn't move from the submissive pose, not knowing what to do.
