It was easy enough going to the stable, so close to it that he could see it from the doorway. Hadley contentedly followed after Grace, thinking about what he might want to do with his life. It had been so long since he'd even been allowed to think of the future, he didn't remember what he might have wanted. There were no dreams for him to pick up, no ambitions that drove him. He was empty, without a purpose, only a small amount of feeling left to keep him from being completely broken into a tool.

Realizing how close he'd been to never seeing freedom again Hadley shuddered. He was glad he had the chance to rebuild, with at least some part of him left intact enough for him to do so. He listened to Grace's instructions, and easily lifted up a bag. He opened it up and began to walk down the line, making sure to give each horse an equal amount of food. It took some time before he finished, the bag empty. He stuck it back at the start so it could be refilled, and turned to see if Grace was finished as well.
