Extending the Family

She was helped over to the bed, and with one more push the first pup came out. Dipping down Amy scooped him up. She sniffed at him, realized he wasn't breathing, and gently put him aside, pretending that he was just asleep. Again pain rang through her as she continued to push. Cursing loudly she glared over at the pup that was huddling in the corner. This was no time for children to be around. Desperately Amy reached around for something more to throw, trying to drive him away. He couldn't stay and see this. He had to leave.

Groaning another wave hit her, faster than the first. Amy halfway pulled herself out, reaching for Aeron to hold onto. Remembering that she still had a couple throwing knives Amy glanced at her hand. Carefully she drew her hand back, getting ready to throw it, before giving in with despair. There was no point to it. No matter how hard she tried they wouldn't leave. Her hand finally released the grip, eyes meeting the coyote's and pleading for help for some kind of protection for the pups that were coming. At last another one came out, this one jet black, looking just like her ancestors. Carefully she scooped him up, feeling his ragged breathing. At least this one was alive. Gently she nestled him into her, calming down.
