Star Light Star Bright

Sebastian hung in the shadow behind a pillar, the firelight reflecting off his molten orange eyes. Except for that hint of life, he was still and silent, unnoticeable and indistinguishable. Nearly everyone being at least a foot taller than him helped. They even had a new giant he hadn't noticed- a black-and-white spotted monster even bigger than Enzo and as muscular as Jazper. He could certainly provide some entertainment for the predatorial artisan. Perhaps Fritz would even let the Italian try to count his spots.

Sebastian wrenched his thoughts out of the gutter as Jazper spoke, his orange eyes roving over the Sole's body rather than focusing on his handsome face. Mentor ceremony. Wonderful. Well, Sebastian certainly hoped it wouldn't be him. The little girl had already attacked him once. Besides, there were much more capable and experienced members of Casa di Cavalieri who could do a much better job educating a child. And they wouldn't flee at the sight of her.

More talking. More ceremony. Sebastian didn't like ceremonies. Too much effort. There was an itch in his ear. A fly buzzing around the ceiling. Inconsequential details leapt out at him. Rough stone. Golden fur. Dixie-May's white pelt. Hadley with his new fox kit in his brawny arms. Sebastian felt too warm. The room was too warm. At last, the name was announced.

Wayne McCoy.

Good. Sebastian heaved a quiet sigh of relief. Wayne was much better suited than him to teach children about life's great mysteries. The dull roar in his ears subsided as he kept his reaction off his face after the initial sigh, aside from a small smile and nod made in Wayne's direction.
