Little boys don't stay little boys

It's chemical the way we love. The way we hate it's quite inhuman

Word Count :: RAMBLE

Despite herself, on seeing Amy's entrance, Caprica felt - yes, anger - but also a little pleasure swelling up. On a happy day like this she could almost forgive the woman her erratic behaviour upon their first meeting. Being with the dog during her pup's birth must count for some kind of bond between them, too. She hoped the little ones were doing okay, considering their parent, and the strange circumstances of their birth. She determined to catch the attention of the golden lady and catch up on how she was doing.

The thought didn't have long to mature in her one-track mind, however: a dusk-silver figure had appeared, with his contrastingly pale shadow, Alexander, present as well. Caprica knew she owed them at least one favour since the Winter Festival, but as they gravitated towards her catering efforts, she shot them a warning glare. "Hands off, you two." The delicacies were for her beloved siblings to sample first: they would be hungry enough to really enjoy it. Of course, the gentlemanly Rakeeb and the… less gentlemanly Alexander had probably just meant to pay her a compliment, but Caprica wasn't generally generous with the benefit of the doubt. She was happy to see them, though, a sensation that just built up the euphoria of the occasion still more. She hadn't dressed up much, only wearing her gothically tattered leather-and-black-velvet skirt: but her fur was sleek and shone as if polished, which it all but had been. Her heart only lifted more and more as the speech was given by her seemingly omnipotent mother. All the omens sounded so good for the triptych of brothers. She noted their animals carefully. She would make them something to mark the occasion.

She missed Octavius' advance upon Amy, being too far away, and too busy inspecting Alaki closer. Unlike her carefully groomed appearance, he appeared to have rolled out of bed just minutes before. Loose black strands of hair joined the scars crossing his face to create a mildly dishevelled appearance. "You weren't expecting a party, am I right?" she teased. "Nice surprise for the both of ya." Sure the atmosphere was a little tense, but Caprica was blissfully unaware of the perturbation amongst her fellow Anathemans. "Ribs?" She held some of her barbecued fare out. "Or something a little more substantial?" Then her eyes clouded. "Unless you're not planning to stay long. Don't let me keep you from… whatever you were doin'." Her green eyes flicked apologetically from one to the other. Maybe they'd been late because the thought of a celebration bored them silly. She tried to tone her exuberance down, not wanting to come on too strong - just because she was excited for the big changes in her family, and the feast that had been prepared, didn't mean everybody else was too.
