Cadmeia couldn’t stop thinking - Adelle’s mentor ceremony had made quite an impression on her. It wasn’t that surprising, being as impressionable as she was, but at the same time she hadn’t thought the impact would be quite as much. It felt as though her heart might explode out of her chest. Every waking second felt like an eternity. Time had never really meant anything to Cadmeia - not until now. When she was alone, she really had no concept of time. There were never any commitments that needed to be met, no responsibilities to be had - none except for finding a warm place to rest before the sun went down. Everything was different now, now that she had found a life, a place that she could call home.
It was now near impossible for Cadmeia to be comfortable unless she was in the company of another. How had things changed so quickly? Every moment she was alone she longed for someone, anyone, to walk into her presence. It’s not like they even needed to be talking to her. She just needed to know that she wasn’t alone in this world. Seeing Adelle and Wayne together at the ceremony really touched her, and she knew that she wanted what they had and would soon have.
It was strange to Cadmeia how she could so desperately want something that she had never had before. She wanted to FEEL...someone to be there for her, to fill her heart with love. Who would be there for her when she needed it most - was there someone she could run to when she was scared? The only one Cadmeia felt comfortable with right now was Hadley, but even he couldn’t always be there - and she didn’t expect him, or anyone else to be.
Cadmeia was so lost in thought, hanging her head down low as she walked about, that she didn’t even notice the elderly leg she was about to collide with.
