She had said yes! He grinned broadly. He was going to learn how to do it too. His question seemed to make her happy which made his delight grow even more. He felt her fingers in his hair as she gently undid it. It felt so good. His smile slowly faded as he watched her fingers. He was entranced by the movement of her golden fingers.
He picked up his own thicker, longer, darker hair. He did as she did and split it into three larger strands. He fiddled with his hair a little bit, sloppily making the first weave. He felt her hands slip over his and correct his movements slightly. The weaves were sloppy and uneven, but as he continued down his back, they began to improve slightly. It amazed him that his hands could do something like this. He finished his long braid. It wasn't as neat, and it started lower than her's had because he had had to watch his fingers, but it was a braid, and he was proud.
He looked up at her with shining eyes and grinned again. "I did it!" He laughed a little in amazement and almost jumped in excitement. Was she proud of him? Had he done well? He began to play with his braid again.
After a while of looking at it, he took it apart and began again. As soon as he finished, he pulled it apart and started anew. He continued to do this over, and over again until the braid, although not perfect, was neater, tidier, tighter, and more eye pleasing. When he was satisfied, he looked back up at her and flashed a smile. "Thank you, Mistress." This simple act of braiding brought him a strange joy.
