Amy relaxed under the night sky. Nearby Raoth was whimpering, curled up into a ball. The foolish youngster had tried to steal some food from her. It wasn't that he wasn't well fed. He ate when she did, and a good amount, if of lesser quality. No, he just decided that he wanted a snack and hadn't yet learned that nothing belonged to him. Amy had taken him to task, beating him with her fists until he collapsed, unable to handle anymore.
At least his attempts to kill her were becoming less frequent. With her pregnancy out of the way Amy had full power again, and with each less successful attempt his eyes darkened a little more. Slowly Amy rotated the meat over the fire. Pulling it off she tossed the portion that Raoth would eat before tucking into her meal, enjoying the taste of the spices that cooking always managed to bring out. Much better than eating it before it had been soaked, dry and hard for travel. Staring at the stars Amy thought about how much she had changed. Her empire had probably collapsed by now, but her power was slowly growing over here. She just had to keep it up, and eventually she'd be as powerful as she had been before. The difficulties were just a little different than she was used to.
