Dhiate stopped crying out, simply staring out. Normally this would relieve Amy, the horrid noise stopped, and would discard the slave as an empty shell, leaving him be. It didn't matter to her after all if they were broken. In fact, she was often the reason why they broke. This time it just made her more worried. Gently she stroked Dhiate's face, wishing he would come back. Never again would she attempt such a crude blunt method. Eventually this fear would have to be gotten over, but for now he needed comfort, someone to help him through.

Unfortunately for Dhiate, Amy was not a naturally caring person. She had no idea what to do to make him better. Her words seemed to snap him out of it a little, relaxing her slightly until he started listing names. Realizing he'd watched his pack go up in flames Amy listened silently. There was no sympathy in her eyes, simply coldness. Her own family could have been killed in such a manner and Amy wouldn't care. She didn't have the ability to care in such a way. The weaknesses in her were so few, and so deeply hidden that such tragedies never reached her. She even caused some of them, laughing while it happened.

He hit the last name, and his sobbing grew worse. Amy bore with it for a few more moments before losing patience. Sighing she took a hand and slapped him across the face. Hopefully the shock of that would bring him back. It was a rather gentle one, but it would sting enough to help him focus. Sitting down in the water she stared sharply into Dhiate's blue eyes. Yes, they're gone. You're not. You have a new life, so move on. Yes, comforting was not her strong point, even if she was cradling him, face filled with worry.
