The trip up from the warmth and security of the cave was an adventure in itself. The farther away from her parent's den she trekked, the more mystifying the world came. She had been confined to the insides for as long as she could remember, and now as her tiny black paws took her upwards, as sunlight filtered into the tunnel before her, it was as if she was being born again. Large hazel eyes blinked and shied away as she finally stood upon the threshold of Anathema’s caverns, and it took her a moment to adjust to the bright outside world. A soft, cool breeze picked up and caressed her crimson fur as she stood there, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape as she looked around. Where others her age might have hesitated, she felt no fear. In fact, she had no concept of what fear was, and she carelessly hopped out of the cave’s entrance into the field beyond. She however, was not a foolish one, and stayed close enough to the safety of the caverns so that she could dash there quickly if anything spooked her. But for now, all was well, and she quickly found something to entertain her; a few long blades of grass that she quickly chewed up and swallowed. Her eyes were suddenly drawn upwards to the flutter of wings as she saw a murder of crows fly over her to alight in the trees beyond. She had never seen crows before, or at least, she couldn’t remember ever seeing them. They were like living shadows; like the ones that danced on the walls of the cave while her father held her. Lillith decided she liked crows. In fact, she liked black things all together, and shiny rocks with color like the ones her mother had. Then again, that was all she knew; this world outside, well, this would take some getting used to. Feels like I am floating, leaves my body glowing |
