Border Patrol
#36
The puppy was clearly exhausted. Isa knew she should take her home but she wouldn’t unless Adelle agreed. Adelle looked back and stared at her. The girl yawned again and then opened her eyes wide. She was trying to fight the sleep from her body. The two of them stood there, looking at each other while Isa tried to figure out how to convince the determined young girl to leave with her and get some sleep. Adelle shook her head and made it clear that she wanted to finish first.

Adelle obviously had no energy but she was determined not to stop. She turned and looked at the border. Isa realized the pup was not going to give up. She went over and nudged Isa before looking up at her with those big blue eyes. Adelle asked her to come with her and Isa let out a sigh. “Come on sweetheart. You need some sleep. I promise we can wrestle, play, patrol the border, and tell as many stories you want next time. Alright?” She smiled down at Adelle, hoping she understood.
