[M][P] And the bodies hit the floor.

This is long and stuff, but... yeah. Your post was awesome. :c Poor Bambi!

Levent was not a stranger to pain and grief, but to hear him tell of it, he had not shed a single tear his entire life. He was an amazing actor, flamboyantly smiling and bowing and chattering even when something struck him. But he was known to have broken down—when he lost his father, the woman he’d thought to marry, when he realized the consequences of his one-way journey across the ocean—and only one creature besides him knew of those times.

Wilson purred contentedly, snuggled in the wolf’s arms, the whole of his body seeming to buzz softly against the man’s chest. Lev only smiled down at his sleeping companion with tired blue eyes half-lidded. They had traveled extensively throughout the day and only now collapsed against a tree in the dark forest, resting before they began their wandering trek once more. There was no telling how many packs they’d yet to explore, how many territories and how many creatures they would come across. Only the thought that he wouldn’t be alone throughout all of this kept the merchant from being overwhelmed.

He dozed off after a time, but woke suddenly—the cat snuggled under his chin with sleepy confusion, his claws unsheathed with worry and barely pricking the canine’s skin. Levent frowned, straightening as Wilson adjusted, wondering what had woken him and startled the feline. He turned his nose to the air, the smell of a dog and a cat and the tired odor of death coming to him. The snarl that sounded at the edge of his hearing only served to jolt him completely awake, and after throwing the satchel high up in the tree they rested under, hoping no animals or luperci would get to it, he wordlessly set off in that direction.

It did not take the odd companions long to find the girl, one beautifully pelted with whites and blacks and blues and hints of rust. She was covering her ears, speaking desperately to herself—and at her bloody legs rested a black cat, dead, old, so so small and so tired from her souls’ journey.

The breath caught in Levent’s throat, and in that moment, the female’s agony and grief became his own. Understanding, Wilson pressed silently against his leg then came forward to the dog hybrid, mewing a soft greeting and sliding his white body along her gently, his yellow eyes avoiding the sight of the deceased queen. Shortly after came the wolf, his eyes glittering, his arms open out to the sides and his expression that of profound sadness.

“Oh, süt mavisi,” Levent murmured, coming to kneel beside her, to put his arms around her if he could. His voice was poignant, his chest already aching with the threat of sobs. If he could empathize with anything, it was this moment, this moment that struck him with such fear and sadness that he rarely knew. But he did not think about that, his mind focused on the young woman and her bleeding grief. “Süt mavisi, it is not your fault. It is not ever your fault.”

His hands reached for the dark body of the she-cat, not daring to touch her, not certain that the girl would tolerate his presence for long. A white head brushed under his palm, and Wilson was rubbing against both luperci with all the ferocious protection a little cat could manage, and Levent spoke, his voice like a river broken by rocks.
