Morning had come quicker than Shadow had wanted. As he opened his eyes and looked around he had hoped that when he woke, he would no longer wish to leave without saying a word but a part of him knew that there was no hope. Maybe later if they met again she would be more open to the fact that he had a mate and not a master.
He slowly got up, was nice enough to pack the things that he was using thanks to Amy and he placed them back in the wagon. Slowly he looked to Amy and her boys and he smiled seeing them together like they were, yes her boys were slaves but it was her family. He took some meat that had survived the night before cut it up and placed the meat in little pelt bags and placed them near each of them.
To make Amy happy he made sure the best meat when to her and the not so good to the slaves. After leaving his little gift and helping with the packing of the camp site he turned his back to them and started to walk back to New Dawn. He smiled as he whispered a small prayer to the gods to watch and keep Amy and hers boys safe and then he didn't look back as he made distance from them.
He knew he would see them again one day, but now Amy needed her family, not him, he had helped and done his duty, it was time for Amy to live her own life.
