Shadow was in the area and when he picked up movement his hand on instinct went to his swords handle on his back and then his ears picked up and sound and his nose the scent and his eyes the movement. It was Insomnia. He lowered his hand as his tail started to wag and he opened his mouth to call out to her but then he picked up something in the air. It smelled sweet, strong and hopelessly intoxicating. He closed his eyes and took in the smell and let the breath out slowly as if to do so to quickly would cost him his life and once he let the breath out he opened his eyes and knew who it was coming from.

He took a step forward and then he looked down at his foot as he growled and then he looked back up to the direction insomnia had run and he knew what it was right away. Something to make him lose himself at something so simple as a breath. She was in heat, or at least in the beginning stages of it. He had smelled it once before when one of his pack sisters had gone into heat but this was different. He was able to control himself and not have the scent bother him because he was loyal to insomnia but now, that same intoxicating small was coming from his love and it was as if his body knew it and would not allow Shadow to control his thoughts.

He shook lightly as he fought for control over his body against the inner baser instincts and once he had that control he took off after Insomnia to make sure all was well and that she was okay. It had been a nightmare for some females as they lost control of themselves and would almost mate with any male given the chance.

The thought of that set Shadow off and he actually bared his teeth and his ears and tail lowered as he had a vision of some other male trying to take Insomnia from him. he shook his head as he ran and remembered that there was no other male around and that she was in no danger of being taken by another male, besides he would kill them if they tried, or he would severely wound them either way it would be good. He caught up in no time and he slowly came to a stop as that smell hit him stronger now but he spoke and kept his voice clear and loving as always.

Are you alright love...I saw you run away from where we were sleeping and I wanted to check up on you.

Shadow's tail betrayed him at it moved to a higher position behind him and his ears were pointing straight up as if to hear anything that told him he could have her. He sniffed and sat down on his haunches as a means to make sure he didn't move from the spot, as he watched insomnia wondering what she was going to do and what she would say about this new development
