Though Itachi's ears twitched, the flaxen coyote could not decipher the meaning behind this gesture. Tlantli could not entice nor read anything directly from him, and it frustrated her to no end. Still, she was not so impatient as to give up so quickly. Determination was her forte, after all, and the red-eyed woman smiled a smile that was almost gleeful, but for the deadly-sharp tips of her white teeth. His question was so direct, it was only natural for her to expound upon her feelings.
Why should anyone be content? she asked, wrinkling her muzzle in a grin. I want to better the Family, and high rank serves better and more often than low rank. Being discontent makes you want to grow, get better, the flaxen woman offered. Her philosophy was simple, and entirely truthful, at that -- discord provided the seeds of opportunity, after all. You do not? she asked, her grin turning to a disapproving sort of frown, though the woman's gaze belied the frown as one made in jest.
Perhaps there was no ally within this one, but the yellow-furred woman did not think her former equal was a cause to be abandoned. There was still a chance he might feel something of discontentment for his demotion -- though perhaps he had succumbed entirely to their twisted philosophy, and he believed himself deserving of such a fate? Tlantli did not think so, and she might have earnestly disagreed with his demotion if she had still been the Crone.
