Being out in the open was scary. He was without a pack to keep him safe, with only a killer's word that he would be kept from harm. Hadley was slowly growing to trust the large male, but the first image of a black beast standing ready to kill him still stood in Hadley's mind. The smell of blood reached Hadley, sending shudders through his body. Something had been injured, from the amount killed. A frightened doe bounded past her, Hadley watching with sympathy. He knew what it was like to be so scared.
Continuing his path Hadley found himself coming across the clearing where the blood came from. It was a shame, but he hadn't realized he'd been growing closer. The sight of the coyote standing over the small fawn, so powerful and bloody, sent him to his knees. She was just a hunter, but in that instant she was death. Gathering what little courage he had Hadley pushed himself up a little. Glancing over Hadley tried to work on making a friend, growing more courageous. The only sound that escaped him was a squeak though.
