Hadley sighed with relief as the strange female dropped into a submissive pose. Good, now there was no reason for anyone to get hurt. He was still anxious enough to end up jumping into the air if anyone happened to touch him, knowing that Emmanuelle would willingly rip out their hearts if it would give her what she wanted. The gaze...so familiar, so frightening. Hearing the kittens described as the female's children had his gaze turning to them, wondering if that was somehow true. Amy had taken in kits before, but they were for someone else, not her children. Amy would still have killed those that touched her property though.
The explanation made sense to Hadley, used to such a cold description. He did have his own child that wasn't a canine, a small fox kit that he'd rescued from the borders. The colder explanation was the kind that he had gotten used to though, not expecting warmth for him or any others around him. The coyote's tail wagged as she turned around, approaching Hadley. Immediately he released the fawn, backing up to let her retrieve it without feeling threatened by his presence. She might be acting kind now, but the cold actions she'd just revealed chilled the former slave.
He nodded his head as she addressed him, eyes kept to the ground. Maybe she wasn't such a good choice for his first attempt at reaching out to others and trying to be less afraid. Meat was tossed in his direction, Hadley politely nibbling on it. His ears twitched with interest as the wolf's name was sought, curious as well about who this stranger was.
