Everything was changing and Keldava wasn't sure that she liked it.

Keldava didn’t understand much of what was going on, didn’t fully comprehend the concerns and anger of her mother and father but what she did understand was that they were leaving behind the lands she had grown up in.

While Keldava was upset by this, it was only natural for her to feel some sense of loss as she was taken away from everything she had grown familiar to at such a young age, she wasn't taking it as hard as her siblings. Keldava had spent the majority of her childhood thus far mostly alone, wandering around the territory and as such hadn’t gotten as attached to the Ichikan residents as Dalgina.

She was sad to leave behind the mountains but they had never really been a tangible thing to her. They had always been off in the distance, representing more a desire to get out and explore than actually wanting to climb them specifically and this desire to explore was certainly being satisfied by the move, further blunting the sadness at leaving.

Despite her own fair handling of the situation she was painfully aware that the rest of her family was either upset, angry or both by the move. For the past day since leaving Keldava had been scuttling about the group, cheering up and helping wherever she could.

It was that attitude that led her to where she was now, stalking through the forest having wandered off when the group stopped for a short rest. Keldava's intent wasn't to simply wander off but to actually be helpful by catching some food for the group, to take some of the stress of hunting off the adults.

Keldava was currently hunting for the only thing she knew that was small enough for her to hunt, a rabbit. Unfortunately its size was all that Keldava knew about rabbits, other than the fact that they had fluffy tails; the puppy had never seen a rabbit in any recognisable state and while she had smelt one several times she wasn't aware of what it was she was smelling on those occasions.

It would seem then, that this was a hopeless venture, hunting down an animal based on nothing other than the description of a fluffy tail. However fate seemed to have smiled on Keldava this day as there, sticking out of a bush right in-front of her, was a fluffy tail, sticking out of a bush!

The tail looked nothing like a rabbit's but Keldava had no way of knowing this. Instead she simply dropped into a stealthy crouch and crept forward, eyes fixed on the tail as it waved in the air softly. Normally the animal she was sneaking up on would have detected a puppy but Keldava was very good at hunting and sneaking for her age. When she wasn't exploring or playing with her siblings Keldava spent a lot of time following her Mahnaya around, especially when she was hunting. While Keldava had trouble sitting down to be talk stuff she learned quickly through demonstration and practise and so her stance was stealthy enough that she managed to close in on the distracted animal and pounce before it noticed her.

Keldava let out a high pitched war cry as she flew through the air, landing with her teeth clamped around the fluffy tail. Almost instantly something thick and solid smacked into her, loosening her grip and sending her tumbling. When she righted herself she could see the animal she had just attacked. It was much bigger than she thought and most definitely not a rabbit judging by the sharp teeth and claws it bore.

Keldava didn't have a chance to move before the bobcat sprung forwards. It didn’t have any intention of actually killing Keldava, it was intelligent enough to recognise a pup when it saw one, but Keldava's teeth were strong enough to hurt quite a lot and it intended to teach the puppy a lesson. Hissing and spitting razor sharp claws were slashed over the brown and yellow canine's ear, slicing a chunk out.

Confusion and pain flooded through Keldava's mind, followed by fear as the cut to her ear, as head wounds tended to do, promptly bled all over her face, coating the fur around her left eye in a film of red. Keldava was silent for a moment before she let out a loud wail, pushing herself backwards along the ground and away from the bobcat.
