Keldava whined piteously as she scrambled backwards away from the creature she had angered, ears and tail low in an instinctive display of submission as the much larger animal stalked towards her. The bobcat was unmoved by this and continued advancing towards her, teeth bared angrily and spittle flying towards Keldava as it hissed.
Keldava's salvation came in the form of a bulky figure crashing through the trees, splintering wood and crushing foliage as it raced towards her. Mahnaya! For a moment Keldava thought everything was going to be okay, that the scary creature would surely flee now that her Mahnaya was here to protect her!
Unfortunately things didn't quite work out like that; the creature was unimpressed by Mahnaya's appearance and continued towards her, speeding up to a sudden dart that had Keldava screeching in fear and ducking her head into her paws as far as she could. Rather than the sharp pain she had been recently acquainted to Keldava was instead treated to a screeching hiss of pain and the thick smell of blood.
Confused Keldava peeked her head upwards and caught a glance of Mahnaya standing over her, teeth clasped around the creature, which was thrashing and swiping at Mahnaya's face.
Keldava liked to be brave, liked to think of protecting the once sshe loved from danger. But in the face of a creature that somehow dared to fight back against the seeming force of nature that was Mahnaya all Keldava could do was hunker down and whimper, eyeing the struggle in fear.
