The situation was far from eased yet she maintained a calm about her as she watched the scoundrels of the thistle wood prepare for their part of the exchange. She knew whom to expect, but not what the child looked like. The truth still sounded unbelievable to her ears, yet as she beheld the little pup, nervous and uncertain, she felt less concerned about his origins and more worried for what crimes may have been committed on the child during his imprisonment.

Instinct bid that she run to him, beat him in the middle and steal him away to safety, but duty and a sense of responsibility held her firmly in place til she was acknowledged by the handler. The Salsolan in their position was unbound by her captive. The large hands of her mate unbinding the slacking tether for her to walk her own way to her brethren. The Nomad shared her no glance as her eye was fixed upon the small babe. Her breath still caught as the captives passed.

And as the dark form bobbed steadily closer, the she-wolf rose from her composed stature and gently clasped her jaws around the scruff of the child’s neck. She could not yet fawn… she could not yet inspect him. But in due time, in safety and seclusion and would spare the time. But for this moment, she wished to be rid of these circumstances and leave this horrid ordeal behind her as a memory.
