Bitter Moments

Tharin noted the dismay, pretending to be oblivious to it. It might hurt her feelings that he'd dodged it like that, but he didn't want to tell her. He didn't want to tell anyone, as if keeping it a secret meant that somewhere out there Akira was truly still alive. He was the only one who knew she had died, so maybe just that would be enough to keep it from becoming real. His tail wagged as she agreed to walk with her. Just staying and watching what was overhead might be nice for some, but Tharin wasn't exactly one for that kind of stuff, more interested in the world he could smell and feel under his paws than distant things that had no effect on him.

Fayne seemed pleased as she thought more about the idea. Tharin still didn't know his way around New Dawn all the way, and her excited words had him on his feet, muscles rippling as he surged to stand beside her, eager to see what was out there for him to behold. He glanced at her with curiosity, tail wagging as he thought about what it was she might be taking him to see. An icy pond to skate on, a grove of pines where the prey ran with no end. The landscape was very different than what he was used to as well. Far more plants, and hills, and things he was unused to. Perhaps it was something far different than what he expected.
