For a split second, Lillith thought that perhaps the woman would attack her, just as that blonde dog in Anathema had. So far life had taught Lillith that with her curiousity came trouble, but trouble is what the Trombetta girl lived for. But instead of a snarl, the woman grinned, though it was awkward and broken; still, Lillith relaxed, and her white tipped tail wagged with more fervor.
The woman introduced herself with an elegant name and Lillith immediately responded, Pleasure to meet you Linquilea de la Rosesanglante. She said with a small yet stiff bow, as her parents had taught her. The name was not a difficult one for her, for the Behr child knew both German and Italian, so the special tongue used to pronounce foreign sounding names were much easier for her then it would be for other canines.
The woman then explained the blood staining her paw; it was that of her servant, who had displeased her. Lillith cocked her head to the side slightly, wondering if perhaps she had killed him; but where was the body then? While Lillith’s hazel eyes scanned the area for a corpse, the woman then asked if this frighten Lillith, and that it should. The girl turned to look at the woman, No, I’m not afraid. Death is only but a part of life; I have no fear of it. And I’ve seen slaves before; it’s their fault for being weak under their masters. She was reminded of the blonde dog’s coyote slave, how completely sad he was and not even worth a second glance. Lillith knew she would never be that way; she was strong, and her family was strong. Perhaps some day even she would have a slave, that would be fun.
Then, stepping a bit closer, Did you kill the servant? She asked. She had never seen the dead body of a Luperci or wolf, she would really like to see one if she could.
