For a moment the glint in the woman’s eyes changed, and Lillith nearly ran for it. But then, she stood and beckoned the red girl to follow quietly. After the pup’s initial shock at the size and androgyny of the woman faded, she was obedient and followed the woman into the scrub of the forest. It was difficult to be as quiet as the sable female, for her paws were large and her legs gangly, and every time she snapped a twig or bumped a bough she flinched and looked to Linquilea to see if she would snap.
Something about this woman was so dangerous and unpredictable that Lillith felt completely alert and attentive, a state which the young pup had found difficult to maintain in mundane every encounters. It seemed the girl was not easily aroused, and so sought out everything that would make her heart beat. And beating it was doing now, at an accelerated pace, as the pup’s mind spun with whirling thoughts of blood and death.
They did not go long before the woman slowed and so did the Behr child. The older female stood frozen, eyes trained on a clearing just beyond a large wall of brush before them. Lillith’s hazel eyes peered through the foliage as well, and managed to spot a flash of ruddy orange fur. It was a fox. Slowly, like a blossom opening its petals in the morning sunlight, the crimson main on the pup rose until she looked much large then she actually was. She looked up at the woman for guidance.
