Word Count: 397 :: ooc

The child was, of course, a novice. Linquilea was made extremely aware of this as she heard the crunching of leaves and twigs behind her as Lilith's overgrown feet stumbled over the earthen ground. Dark ears flattened in irritation against her massive skull as the dark Queen whipped her head around briefly to lift her lips to the oddly colored child in a silent, bud dangerous, snarl. She would not speak - it would ruin the integrity of the hunt - but Linquilea was clearly encouraging the little girl to pay greater attention to her pawsteps. It was the first lesson she could teach her, if Lilith were truly interested in the fine art of murder. Hunting canines was much like hunting anything else, though the reward was truly sweeter. The first, and most important lesson, was silence.

It was not long before the duo stumbled upon the scent of a canine, and Linquilea stopped rather abruptly. Her ears were tilted forward in eager anticipation, and she leaned forward ever so slightly to bring herself closer to the scent. She took a deep breath, reveling in the intoxicating scent. It wasn't a wolf or coyote, something she would have infinitely preferred, but instead a fox. They were small creatures, smaller than Lilith, and lesser beings - Linquilea did not see them as equals. But their eyes held intelligence, and this one would lose its eye and heart before the hour was over.

Turning to look at Lilith, Linquilea cocked her head to encourage the little girl to move forward. But her eyes warned the girl to be silent, quieter than she'd been before. If she made as much noise as she had on the way to this fox, it would make the hunt more difficult - though not impossible. Tilting her head slightly, Linquilea silently encouraged the pup to circle quietly around the back of the fox. The Queen herself would move slightly forward, and if Lillith was worth anything, she would coerce the fox towards Lea. Lea would then pounce and grab the fox with her teeth - her size gave her a distinct advantage over these smaller creatures - and pin the thing to the ground, where she would allow the pup a killing blow. If Lillith were sloppy, however, Lea would be forced to do the bulk of the work herself. Including the kill.
