The dark wolfess urged Lillith forward with a nudge of her head, and Lillith slowly, ever so slowly, moved forward and to the side. The fox was very preoccupied with digging a shallow grave for a half-eaten varmint of some kind, and Lillith managed to exit the brush and come up right behind the fox before something gave her away; sound, scent, she wasn’t sure, but the fox suddenly lifted its head, caught sight of Lillith and froze.
For a moment, the two red creatures started at each other; the look in the fox’s eyes was not one of fear, but of surprise and curiosity; it obviously did not see the red wolf pup before it as a threat. Lillith looked at it with an expression completely devoid of emotion; this vixen would be the first creature she ever murdered; not killed, not hunted; but murdered. She raised her black lips then, revealing white, sharp teeth, and let out a guttural snarl and lunged.
The look in the fox’s eyes shifted immediately to panic and it cried out, "NO!" before it was silenced forever under Lillith’s jaws. The pup was able to lift the female fox and shook her violently, listening as spine and ribs cracked under the sudden motion. It went limp then, and from the bite wounds spurted blood, which stained Lillith’s white maw red; she licked at it before lifted her head to look at where Linquilea was watching.
