for Jericho

Theodoric had been surprised to discover how close the sea was to his newly-discovered home. Both the surprise and the relief were an oddity, because before crossing the ocean, he had been content to remain indoors and diligently pursue his craft. For now though, the loom and the wool remained untouched, reserved for a day when the winds blew and the snow came down harshly. Today the thrill of being so far from anything familiar held him prisoner and it was quite beyond him to do anything but submit. Throwing a cloak around his shoulders to ward off the stiff breeze, the grayscale luperci left the ashen mountain in favor of the disgruntled waves and pressing sea air.

Less than inclined to run, Theo's walk took a greater part of the morning and the sun was high indeed by the time dirt finally gave way to sand below his biped paws. Usually at this time of year the sun was pale and dim, but today it shone brightly, overcoming the overcast glum had had prevailed the rest of the sevenday. Which was probably why the bay was a hubbub of activity, the seabirds calling raucously and the waves rolling in with vigor. Before he really realized he was doing so (and without a thought as to why), the jaded shadows wolf smiled and began to relax against the breezy ocean air.
