Her ears twitched slightly, hearing the quiet return of the slave. Immediately Amy worked on stemming the tears. Of course, there wasn't really a point in doing this. She had all the worth of a slave herself, as low class as she had become. What was she supposed to do? There was no reason for her life now. Amy had always lived in the image of her family, but now she didn't have the worth that it took to be a member of the family. Her life was pointless.
The large male came, sitting down next to her. She avoided his gaze, staring at the ground as he spoke. Immediate protest rose in her. Flashing eyes looked up, finding herself instantly trapped in his intense mismatched gaze. Her mouth felt dry, unable to speak about what she thought of what he said. She didn't think of herself as powerful, forced to submit the way she had been, and she didn't have the pleasure of being allowed to fail. Not that way. Be beaten, yes. To submit though, that was an entirely different matter. To submit to an outsider was to declare that the outside was greater than her family, something that just wasn't true. She had dirtied the name. His kind eyes though, they wouldn't let her go.
