Kit had eagerly watched from his hiding place, first in waiting for the merchant to leave her wagon so he could have easy pickings, but then had watched the show unveiling in front of him. Sure, he felt a little guilty that he was watching the stranger, and feeling lust for the attractive female, but shoved those thoughts away by rationalizing it all as only watching. He had come after all, to find a gift for Fleta, something to further bond with the female, to mark her more clearly as his. She had managed to turn a complete womanizer, into at least a male who was much less likely to sleep with anything that had breasts.
After the female was in the water, Kit decided the show was over, and it was time to go steal something, but an exceptionally dangerous alternative occurred to him. The dress that lay near the water, it would probably look nicely on Fleta as well, and the thought of also playing a cruel trick on the seemingly helpless female also amused Kit. So without thinking much about the greater risk, Kit made his way toward the dress, doing his best to stay in cover, but eventually had to leave cover at least for a little bit to reach out and grab the dress. Dangerously close to the water's edge, Kit still believed that she had not spotted him, and was prepared to slowly move away from the spot once he had the dress in his hands. For a few moments though, he would be close enough to the water that the female could grab at him easily enough, and didn't have his guard up like he should have, already thinking of how good Fleta would look in the dress, but also how much fun he might have taking the dress back off of his would be lover.
