The Broderskab, and by extension Regner, saw children as being adults of a sort once they reached six months. It felt wrong to look at the small, cute form of his granddaughter and have to see her as an adult.
It felt even worse that he was doing the ceremony. It shouldn't be him doing this, it should be Marcus and Alicia welcoming their daughter into adulthood, not him. But wish as he may his son and daughter-in-law were dead and it fell to him to provide for Adelle as best he could.
Regner was dressed at his best for the ceremony, cloak and jerkin freshly washed and his normally scattered fur pushed into some semblance of order. It had taken a while to get Anann and Jazper to agree to the ceremony but eventually they had agreed.
Regner stepped forward when he and Adelle were called to the front, dipping his head gratefully towards the two leaders, "Thank you." he said simply, before turning his attention to the puppy the day was focused upon."Are you ready Adelle?"
