She found that reveled the night; the cool smells, the dark shadows, the stars high above, and the moon. These were her companions in this moment, and it was worlds better than being below in the musky, dusty caves of Anathema. Tonight, she found herself adorning the precipice of a rocky mound, basking in the moonlight. She had her eyes half lidded and her face pointed to the sky. She felt… alive.
It had been nearly a week since she had murdered the fox, watch as its simple life drained from its eyes. It was if she could still taste its sweet, metallic blood on her tongue. She had felt so good then, so dangerous and feral and empowered. She had begun to obsess over it, and to satiate her bloodlust she had killed many small creatures since returning to Anathema. It seemed that now there was not a bat, not a mouse that could escape her teeth. Even now, nestled in the space between her front paws was the corpse of a rabbit, half-eaten and bloody. Lillith knew that what it was like to murder now, and she wanted more.
Then, in the distance, a sound. One of the pup’s tufted ears flicked towards the sound, and she turned her ruby head away from the sky and opened hazel eyes to look in the direction of the caverns. A wolf exited, a tattooed wolf. He was white, but the markings on his body were an inky black; how curious. But then, following behind him, like a dark ghost; a large cat. Lillith’s eyes widened and ears stood fully erect as she watched for a moment; they were moving towards her, but she was so still that it seemed as if she were just a ruddy part of the rock. But as they neared, she stood, her young and just beginning to develop female form silhouetted against the moonlit sky, There is a shadow beast following you. She said softly.
