you’ll find me climbing back to heaven

Word Count → 416 :: I wonder who drew my table! :o

The Gamma was, unsurprisingly, anxious.

He paced on his strange two legs, hands clasped around the small, broken body of two little rabbits. Shandom clung to them like a lifeline, comforted to feel their small bodies between his strong paws. They were a gift, and so he would not cause them undue harm - indeed, the rabbits themselves were barely touched. Shandom had killed them rather easily and without much of a blood bath, and it had taken away the excitement of the hunt. But he did not want any gift he presented to Naniko to be anything less than what she deserved, which were lovely things. He'd even gone so far as to tie a ribbon and bow around their necks, a strange tradition he'd noticed in the more humanized packs.

Of course, it wasn't a well constructed bow. Neither of them were. They were clumsily tied together and rather hideously colored - Shandom had found the shoestrings (though he did not know their true name) partially buried under some dirt, and had eagerly gnawed them apart with hungry teeth. The ends were rather frayed as a result, but the alabaster Gamma spent several hours sitting in his bipedal form under a tree, dark eyes narrowed in concentration as he tried, over and over, to tie the bow he'd been shown so many months ago by the woman Saxif. The golden girl had been his first experience in Optime form, and he thought of her with fondness - it was a pity he'd never seen her again, as she had been sweet and funny. Shandom had enjoyed speaking with her, and participating in other elicit activities together. They'd had an electricity, of sorts.

But he was not here to think about her - no, he was at the borders of Anathema to visit Naniko, and he was eager to see her. Many moons had passed since their last meeting, but both were busy - she with her leader duties, he with his Gamma responsibilities. Shandom had made this time to see her, though, and would have been slightly crushed if she weren't there to answer his call. It was a thought he'd only really considered once he'd actually arrived at the borders of Anathema, and, standing barely outside the pack, he wondered if he'd made the right decision. Regardless, the white man tossed his head up to the sky and let out a booming call, requesting her presence and identifying himself.

And then he waited.
