Jiva had been spending the past two days trying to catch a meal on his own, he had let Tobias go his own way. Jiva wasn’t like his father to have his birds scout for him, no he was a wolf and he would do his own work. Tobias was a great help but he found that training birds was not his thing. He would let the hawk stay with him for the time being. Tobias posed no threats other than mocking him because of his inability to catch anything recently. Had it been a few months since his last catch? Why? Was he doing something wrong? He was brooding over the problem, not sure what to do and he was growing thinner for the effort. He ate some but he would eat last and he never felt hungry after eating a catch that someone else caught if he couldn’t give all he had... and he was a hunter.
Jiva caught a scent... Rabbit! Maybe today would be his lucky day. The lupine silently moved sniffing the ground, not paying heed to anything but that scent. He would have his dinner, a juicy rabbit free for the taking. Once he saw it, his heart leapt. He grinned and then gave chase, of course if he were smarter the wolf dog would have figured out where the wind was headed and took that into account, as well as how close he could get without getting caught, but it was all too late for that now for he was chasing the grey animal and as it had made its own mistake of not being anywhere near a burrow they ran for a long time, but in the end the rabbit got the better of him, finding the hole it had so needed and Jiva growled and howled in frustration then immidiately he started digging trying to get at the rabbit that was long gone through a hole so secret to those that lived above ground.
