Chained at the Neck

Thanks for being patient!

It was early morning. The martial artist’s body emanated heat, her breathing labored as she completed her routine, morning training. Since the attacks upon Salsola, the Slave of the Flame had increased her training. The overload was enough to cause her body and muscles greater fatigue, but it was a reasonable increase maintained at a point where she was sure her body was not being over trained. The tenebrous woman had wrapped a thick tree’s trunk in several layers of animal pelts. Had she had the patience and skill for sewing, she would have made herself a hanging punching bag, one that would move an allow her practice the management of distance. But for now this was enough. And for now, practicing on invisible, imaginary targets would have to be enough.

Satisfied, the Korean Jindo-wolf knelt, flexing her shoulders as she began to change. But she did not shift fully to her natural shape, and instead stopped the transformation when the Secui shape had been obtained. With training completed, she required food. And she would hunt for both herself and for Salvia. Silently, the large, unnatural creature moved through the dark shadows of the woods, deliberate steps carrying her large and purely sinewed form from the place of practice. She did not have to travel far.

The tenebrous wolf paused. Black auds raised above her head like the horns of some Eastern dragon, she listened to the soft interruption—it was what she had been looking for. Instantly her posture changed, dark crania lowering and ears swiveling as she moved slowly forth. Then the scent came to her searching maw and the hungering jaws parted in a mirthless and simply satisfied smile. Unhurriedly, the shadowy femme shifted the larger, four-legged shape, a prime shape for hunting larger game. Having shifted, and now occupying a larger space, the nighttime huntress continued, surprisingly quiet for her size. Ahead, a deer grazed yet unknowing of the predator that sought to slay it. The black wolf paused, the lunar orbs assessing distance, her posture adjusting imperceptibly.

She sprang. The black fae shot through the space between them with such speed that, even as the deer attempted to turn and flee, the full force and weight fell upon the prey. Powerful jaws, already parted to taste the flesh, closed down upon the soft throat. Blood flooded upon her tongue. Her body shuddered with a near carnal delight as she felt the life leave between her deadly teeth. Relieved that she had found meat to fill her stomach so easily. Silently, with soft growls of delight, the black secui began to feast. She intended to eat only enough to fill her belly and maintain her muscles. The rest she would carry home to her master; Salvia had healed much since the battle that had wounded her and taken—apparently, for the black one had not understood—from her the father. TaeKyung did not understand these social things any longer, understanding loss only until she could adapt to live without what had been lost. The mind functioned for fighting and for survival. That was all.
