This happened quickly as Zalen stood there, puffed and bristling. Titania backed off, though gave him an incredulous look. Augustus, who seemed torn for a moment, laid down before them in complete submission, revealing his white belly. Then, Ciara crawled on her belly to join her mate and looked up at the Alphas like a disciplined pup. Zalen’s snarl slowly melt from his face, and his hackles lowered, and he once again became a calm canine he usually was. Then his face showed regret, and frustration, and be bumped slightly against Titania’s flank in a ashamed apologetic manner, though he knew she would want more than just that.
Zalen then walked over to the pair on the ground stiffly, and stood above them. He looked into each of their faces, though Augustus’ was upside down. He bent down and nuzzled them each in turn and let out a long whine, I’m sorry. He whispered, and then backed off. The dark male turned to look back at his ivory mate, and flicked a couple ears back as if swatting away an imaginary fly. What had he done?
Zalen let out a sigh and turned to walk back to the den site, looking haggard and bothered. There was nothing more he could say; it had all been his fault anyway, and now he was mentally exhausted. A nap sounded really good, if he could sleep at all.
