Enough was enough. With the blessing of her Dark Queen (who was unraveling by the day), Siv had gathered the two least talkative men within the Family and urged them to join her. This was a gamble—she did not know of Itachi’s history with the clan, only that he, like Eris, was somehow linked to it. Still, she hoped that things would move along without much trouble.
She came dressed in her ritual wear and riding Hildr, the spear attached easily to the saddle. It was apparent she had recently seen combat—raw gashes marked her forearms from where the white she-wolf had struck her. Hildr too showed marks, but these were minor and many against her scarred horseflesh. The witch-woman knew there was a great strength in her mount and hope sorely to find a worthy horse to breed her with. Black was too small, and she intended to use a better suited stallion for her needs.
They rode east, covering the land quickly. Horses were best suited for such affairs, and given the attacks, she did not wish to be caught on foot by these wolves. After miles of plains a collection of pikes, mounted with various skulls of both wolf and prey animals and splashed with paint loomed ahead. Siv had seen the borders once before. She drew her horse to a stop and lifted her voice, formal and deep, asking for audience.
