Sorry about the wait. Hope you like ^.^ Words - 500+

Amherst sprawled out in front of his armed black hide. Not an ideal place to claim for a pack. Not an ideal place for his pack. The idea was begging to settle in him and he was actually starting to like it. Issum. Superior. This word warmed his pride. He and his companion would make quite a leading pair together. All they had to do was find the place.

In a land where Jaden had enemies in the form of entire packs and simple troublesome loners they would need someplace defendable. The Alaskan knew X’yrin would detest to having her kin take shelter in human structures but, for an easily defendable place, the alien structures were wonderful. They offered protection from not only the elements but nearly all weapons he could think of. She was a little stubborn though and he didn’t want to push anything on his fellow leader she didn’t absolutely agree on. He quickly dismissed the idea but didn’t leave right then. Instead he began to explore. Human dwellings always had interesting and often useful things in them.

The obsidian leader-to-be jogged about the city energetically. Since re-fracturing his ribs he had taken things slow, careful, and boring. He loved to climb and his instinct to run pulled at him. His chest ached with still healing pain as his breath became labored but he didn’t stop. He began to become more and more adventurous in his explorations. Instead of using broken doors, he might leap through a missing window or fallen wall. Who need stairs when you could use a few odd metal buildings to jump up the side of a low building? He really began to enjoy himself looking less and less for places to explore and more for obstacles to overcome.

But he was still injured. Without his black coat on, he stayed within a reasonable heat range but his aching side wouldn’t relent. He pulled himself on top of a sound looking boxy delivery truck and used its height to leap onto the flat, gravel covered roof of a neighboring. The rocks crunched under his weight on impact. He pulled himself up, holding his sore ribs and checked to make sure the two daggers on his hips were still securely set in their sheaths. He then moved toward the end of the building’s roof and looked down on an overgrown dirt lot filled with tall grass and little trees. Easy breathing eluded him and he could feel the heat pushing off him in waves. On a good day, a few meter drop would be nothing to fret about. But in his condition and not knowing what might be concealed in the tall grasses had him second-guessing the jump. He stood at the building’s lip and continued to look down, trying to decide if this would be a good idea.

Jaden does. Jaden speaks. Jaden thinks.
