Amy’s good mood was surprising to the young man. Last time he’d seen her had been at his coming of age ceremony, where he had threatened her life…and she had scoffed at his attempt to be menacing. The images of her burned into his brain were those of a rage filled fat woman, bent on killing him and his sister and Aeron for no reason other than that they were trying to help. Wide eyed, the boy stood taller and watched her closely, trying to get to know this new woman. Something had changed her for the better, he hoped, and he almost wanted to find out who or what it was.
When she asked about having a drink of the liquid in the bottle, his upper lip wrinkled a bit. No way in hell was he going to touch that crap. About two months before, he’d knocked over a small flask of alcohol in the meeting room. Stupidly curious, as most puppies were, he bent over and lapped at the odd smelled liquid. The taste that seared his tongue and throat was probably enough to swear him off of the stuff for a lifetime. Uh…erm, well…no thank you. It’s special to you, keep it for yourself, Amy.
Wincing a little, he hoped that she wouldn’t get mad about his turning down the drink. His hands lifted and fidgeted with the scarf around his neck, eventually tugging it off. The colors were bright and clean, and as he looked up at the creamy colored female, a small grin pulled at his lips. Holding it up, he showed off the slightly disheveled work proudly. It was his first piece like that, so of course it wouldn’t be perfect. Do you like it? His ears drooped a bit to the sides and head sank a little, shy and embarrassed, but too excited about his work.
