Dixie's growling had Neela slightly nervous but that was mostly nerves talking; Dixie had just threatened Leon, in a roundabout way and unintentionally yes but she had still done it and Neela's instincts were crying out to drive off the arrogant pup that dared to threaten her family.

Neela blinked, momentarily shocked by the violent turn her thoughts had took. Dixie was just being protective over a fellow pack member, no fault lay with her and it would do Neela no good to start a causeless argument with a pack member. Neela opened her mouth to confirm this, "S-sorry ah growled. Bit high strung at the moment." One hand was raised up to scratch the back of Neela's neck accompanied by a strained grin as Neela tried to laugh it off but both were obviously fake and dropped after a moment.

Neela flinched when Dixie rested her hands on her shoulders but didn’t resist "Sounds good, on both counts. Bit hard to bandage myself and Tony, well.. Tony tried but… yeah." There was a small chuckle at the end there, the first sign of happiness Neela had made thus far. Neela readied her knives when Dixie pulled her own, the long blades feeling both familiar and alien in her hands.

"Knives're useful," Neela said in response to Dixie's admission she hadn’t really used the weapons before, circling the younger female as she spoke, "Good if yer quick, easy ta draw quickly and scare somebody off." The sorrow that had haunted her earlier was still there but buried slightly now; focusing on something practical like this helped a lot for Neela when it came to dealing with emotions. Neela made a few explatory jabs with her right knife before lunging forwards awkwardly, substituting the telegraphed knife blow for a kick the best she could with her injured body.
